Abstract

The world economy grows faster and faster every year, so the number of cross-border crimes, known as transnational crimes, is growing. Economic development and crime rates are linked, as criminals have more opportunities to commit crimes not only on their own territory but also internationally. The increase of cross-border crime in recent years has also led to an increase of the number of cases in which several Member States have jurisdiction and the right to prosecute and try such cases under national law.
